Staff members were using a combination of email, SMS and WhatsApp instant messaging
One for Women staff were using a combination of email, SMS and WhatsApp to communicate. Lack of a consistent platform was leading to confusion and inefficiency. Emails did not provide read receipts and responses were often delayed which was impeding productivity. SMS enabled two-way communication but did not provide team collaboration. Finally, WhatsApp enabled group collaboration but was not compliant nor was it customised for their healthcare needs.
93% of staff members were using SMS and 73% of staff members were using WhatsApp.

The group chats consisted of an organisational-wide group, site-specific group chats, and team-based group chats. These were also created to discourage individuals from creating too many group chats which occurred in WhatsApp.
